XDB™ Dialysis Box - Dialyze samples in half the time
The XDB™ (Xpress Dialysis Box) is an automatable, multifunctional dialysis box specifically developed for use with Scienova’s Xpress Dialyzers. It offers an efficient alternative to standard deep-well plates and can reduce dialysis time by up to half, thanks to its generous buffer reservoir.
With its optimized volume ratio between sample and buffer, the XDB™ enables particularly effective removal of low-molecular-weight substances. In just a single dialysis step, the concentration of interfering small molecules can be reduced by an impressive 98.8% across up to 96 samples simultaneously – making it up to four times more efficient than conventional desalting methods in a standard 96-well deep-well plate.
XDB Refill Kits allow for easy replacement of all dialysis cartridges while offering the same benefits as the standard Xpress Dialyzer Kits. For increased pipetting safety during automated liquid handling, cartridges, inserts, and the box itself can be securely fixed in place.
Additionally, the XDB™ is designed to accommodate tubing and a peristaltic pump, allowing for buffer mixing using a magnetic stirrer, as well as buffer circulation or exchange via pump.

Efficient Buffer Exchange with the Xpress Dialysis Box
As dialysis progresses, the concentrations of molecules able to pass through the dialysis membrane begin to equilibrate between the sample and the buffer. As the concentration gradient decreases, the dialysis rate also slows down. A buffer exchange restores the concentration gradient and increases the diffusion rate of the substances to be dialyzed. Therefore, depending on the application, one or two buffer exchanges should be planned.
The Xpress Dialysis Box from scienova enables particularly flexible and efficient buffer handling during the dialysis process – ideal for both manual and automated sample dialysis in the lab.
Dialysis time can be significantly shortened by using a magnetic stirrer or by connecting an external peristaltic pump. Thanks to integrated Luer lock connectors, attaching tubing for buffer recirculation or automated buffer exchange is both simple and secure.
Even in automated liquid-handling systems, buffer can be easily pumped out and replaced with fresh solution – for maximum process control and reproducibility.
Even without a pump system, the buffer can be drained quickly and easily: with the practical Refill Kit, simply lifting the sample inserts allows the old buffer to drain and fresh solution to be added.
The Xpress Dialysis Box thus provides a user-friendly, scalable solution for efficient buffer exchange – whether for high-throughput workflows or individual sample processing.
